“Huanya Picchu “ now named Machu Picchu a high castle located in the Eastern Cordillera of southern Peru .Machu means old whiles Picchu means either “portion coca being crunched “ or “pyramid”.The castle may have been occupied from around 1420-1530 AD . IT’s construction appears to date from two great Inca rulers ,Pachacutec Inca Yupanqui and Tupa Inca Yupanqui. Machu Picchu was used for 80 years before being abandoned,that’s because most of its original settlers died from small pox introduced by travelers.
Durning it’s active days about 750 people lived there most serving as servants (yanaconas). Pachacutec was said to have made an order for the construction of the estate for his retreat after a good campaign,but research from human remains show that people who lived there were from different destinations. Machu Picchu’s originality is above average at 75% well built and exists till this very day .Machu is sometimes called the lost city since strangers were unable to discover it when they conquered the Inca in the 1500’s .It took 30 years for the construction of the lost city .It was built with mostly granite and limestone.Machu Picchu was discovered by an employer named Hiram Bingham .It is a popular destination for cultural and adventurous tourism.Machu Picchu is regarded as an architectural wonder.
